Out Ioway

My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of Heaven and earth,
He will not let your foot slip-
He who watches over you will not slumber.

Off to Mayo

Loren and I will be heading up to Mayo later this afternoon. Bloodwork starts at 7:00am tomorrow, so we will grab our usual digs at "El Cheapo Roomero." It's the difference between sleeping in until 5:30am, or dragging unwilling bodies out of bed at 3 or 3:30am and driving up the same morning. Yes, I think we will go up today.

This is a follow-up with one of the transplant cardiologists that Loren has been seeing in recent weeks. They are trying to find the right balance between fluid and sodium intake, and blood pressure and exercise, etc. to help Loren maintain some relative comfort during this waiting period.

Speaking of exercise, as I arose to take my daily 4 mile walk this morning, I had to face the awful fact that I STILL had "onion breath" from the cucumber salad* last night. There seemed no other alternative but to partake of a Dove's chocolate or two. It didn't help, but it was fun trying.

Time to bond with the little kids and Big Bird.

*Sour Cream Cucumbers: 2 medium cukes, thinly sliced
1 small onion, thinly sliced
1/2 cup sour cream
1 T. Vinegar
1 t. sugar
1/2 t. salt (makes 3-4 cups)

Yes, I buy "dark" Dove's exclusively. Besides aformentioned benefits, it is claimed to be an aid to heart health, allowing the expansion of blood vessels, thus easing blood flow. The term "flavonoids" was mentioned, which, if I'm not mistaken, has something to do with short, annoying people. I think...

I am glad to see that you are making good use of said Doves and at the same time attempting to kill off the vicious "flavnoids" with onion breath. Two birds with one stone... way to go!
