A M.O.C.K. Note of Thanks
Being a charter member of M.O.C.K. (Mothers of College Kids) , it is my incumbent duty, not to mention HONOR, to offer humble thanks to a really great crew down southaway.
Friends of Ardith, not only pitched in to buy her plane fare home for Thanksgiving, BUT, they also sent along a Wal-Mart gift card for Loren and myself.
THANK YOU, (guys and gals) for sending Ardith home over Thanksgiving. It is the first time she was home for that holiday since she went off to that bastion of higher learning, Letourneau University. I know college-type persons are usually strapped for cash, so, believe me, we are humbled by your generosity. I think it was important for Ardith to see her dad after the transplant. (he looks pretty much the same, and is just as tactless as ever) She DID hog the van and not let Sharon drive up to, OR back from Rochester, but, that is another subject.
Would you like to know what I used the Wal-Mart gift card for? Well, tempting as it was to blow the whole wad on Dove's Dark Chocolates, I resisted that snare, and used the funds for a few necessities, such as vitamins, cold-eeze lozenges, and sanitizing lotion. But, I also succumbed to a little Christmas whimsy, and purchased a silk poinsettia and small manger scene to decorate our room. While lingering in the decorations department, I chanced upon a bin of discount Christmas CD's. I was momentarily tempted by Willie Nelson, but ultimately decided upon a 3 CD collection of soothing instrumentals at rock bottom prices. Loren was tremendously relieved when told how close he had come to being stuck with the "Nasal Fog."
And so, I thank you all, for giving our little Rochester abode a touch of Christmas cheer.
One of these days, we will be down for Ardith's graduation, and I am SO looking forward to meeting all of you in person.
Until then, rest in the knowledge that you have made an old lady and her man very happy.

That works better than a thank-you card. I'm very glad to hear how the card was used to bring Christmas cheer :-D and to hear things continue to go fairly well.
Honestly, I had considered sending along some of the sanitizing stuff but had figured it might be better to send a card for you to purchase the necessities.

Thanks for the post, and yes I am a little wierd. I am glad that your husband is doing great. I especially like your last comment concerning moms and liberals.
