On another humorous note, Ma has living proof that she has kept alive the African violet given to her by "the other Nancy" back around Easter time :-)
Behold, it bloometh!
And yet another good thing happeneth todayeth...
While mowing I suddenly remembered where a certain (real) file might be that Loren and I had been searching for. Get this...it was in one of my filing cabinets!
That's probably why I couldn't find it at first.
But it wasn't put in it's proper place, just laid sideways and flat in a drawer, which is probably why I found it.
You know, I get some of my best inspirations while mowing, which I did today in extreme humidity and 74 degree dew point and I'm still alive so yeah, it's been a good day.

My mother and Grandma Kipker used to keep African violets. Grandma's were better as I recall. But your mother's may have outshone them both. Does she still grow them? I can't remember if I saw them last time we visited or not.
I believe she still has them. As I recall, Mom used to pull off a leaf, stick it in some soil and start a new plant.
I haven't the courage to try that, yet...
I'm sure that mother and grandma and Anna Mae frequently shared pieces from their plants. I don't know if they used just regular soil. Now I'm sure propagators use root promoters and special potting soils. Me, I don't use any of that. I definitely have a "black" thumb--that is, I kill any plant I get close to. If it were left to me, I could probably defoliate the whole earth in record time.
Re the cartoon -- Mommy, I just can't remember you picking so much on college students till your own kids started, but my memory must be failing in old age.
