Out Ioway

My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of Heaven and earth,
He will not let your foot slip-
He who watches over you will not slumber.

Farmstead views sunset

Gone, the sun. But it was lovely to see it, yesterday. As if to make up for the many dreary days, there was a spec-tac-ular sunset last evening. Even houses were mesmerized.

Loren and Jason were hard at work on Saturday, wrapping the shivering plywood in protective covering. I sauntered past with my camera, but received one of those looks that said, "Why don't you wait until we are done and not present."

I was happy to comply, for as we all know, I am loath to post pictures of people against their will.

The guys are back at it today, in hopes of finishing before a little front comes through. Already it is blustery, but Loren feels too good (or driven) to take any days off, I guess.

Having majored in music at college, I was astounded to read this article concerning someone we studied, ever so briefly.

My only question is, "Could he be getting paid for this?"

John Cage is a modern day emperor wearing no clothes.

Whatsoever.

The picture looks like you are leaving a light on for someone to find their way home.

You keep some of the same strange hours I do these days. Shouldn't we be asleep at 2:25 AM since we are no longer college students? :-)

Now Ma, normally I wouldn't be one to call "shenanigans" on an esteemed and venerable matron of the community, but when you claim "I am loath to post pictures of people against their will", this would seem not to translate to sending out said pictures and encouraging others to post them. While I suppose that's not a literal contradiction, in the spirit of "it's the thought that counts", I think I'll have to name you as responsible for the eventual ponding of Paige and any other things that happen to this poor naive young lass as a result of her consorting with her more nefarious elders. After all, while the young girl might not have known better... someone should have remembered the children. I mean, where's your motherly instinct?

Scholl - Might I remind you that the ponding of Paige last year was a less than auspicious occasion involving bodily harm? Just a reminder, lest you too suffer laspses of memory from time to time like some of your elders :)

How did I miss that extra "s" typed in lapses? Oh, well, if that is my greatest difficulty today, I have much to be grateful for...

Well, Josh, it's like this....

I was totally prepared to let the whole thing go. After all, Jason has led a fairly sheltered life, and I didn't wish to have him undergo any harsh or embarrassing entrance into the world of college.

You know how I strive to not interfere in other people's lives.

*modestly pats hair*

While I do admit to sending the photo to Paige, I felt that I would still be holding to our agreement, by not actually posting it on this web site. Myself.

But it occurs to me that another issue is at stake here...the people's right to know.

When in high school, I had aspirations to write for a newspaper, some day. (either that or become a concert pianist or professional tennis player--I could never quite make up my mind) Instead, I became mother to 10....but I digress.

You see, Scholl, the world can benefit from your shining example. An example of how an inveterate slacker, grew up, went to college, and graduated with a marketable degree. Along the way, he acquired a smart and lovely wife, as well as a great job doing the kind of work he was born to do--interact with the public on a daily basis.

I felt the world needed to hear of this great triumph. It is not unlike the Horatio Alger story, only....he was nice. Possibly even "happy."

And thus the picture was shared, so that in the future some aspiring computer science major, who is feeling down-trodden and persecuted (possibly from excessive ponding), need only gaze upon that picture to receive the needed inspiration to press on.
