Out Ioway

My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of Heaven and earth,
He will not let your foot slip-
He who watches over you will not slumber.

Toga People

Here we have three noble examples of the ancient Romans, garbed in traditional attire..les togas.
Starting from RIGHT to left, we see Ethan, clad in a simple dark green flannel sheet. The texture of this fabric lends itself to a nice draping effect, with soothing qualities upon the wearer.

It is so soothing, the model was tempted to close his eyes, requiring immediate pleas for an additional picture.

In the middle we have the sensible matron of this little familia, displaying the grace and aplomb of a woman of Roman nobility. She is poised. She is serene. She is indeed, serenely poised. And I would like to add that her overall look was enhanced by the bun hair style which she assembled herself, in toto.

The decorative markings on her bedding....er....garment, denote her relative position of stature, not to mention that ancient proverb, "The oldest gets first pick...nyah, nyah."

*sigh* On the far left, we have the smallest toga wearer, clad in a simple, white crib sheet. We are not sure why he wields the sweeper attachment....perhaps he is keeping a sharp lookout for the Carthaginians.

In this second picture, we applaud the formerly sleepy patrician who has now made a valiant effort to appear awake. We just hope he didn't strain anything.

The noblewoman has now relaxed her visage just a bit to grace us with the hint of a smile. She is comfortable enough to express her tenderness for the little one by placing a protective arm around his back. And then, she is still basking in the afterglow of that epiphanish moment when she remembered to take off her wristwatch....

The munchkin on the left is again, hard to fathom. Having abandoned his watchful vigil, he has taken to twirling his spyglass around in a most casual, nay flippant manner. His expression can only be described as snarky.

After pictures, the group repaired to the little boys' room where a traditional Roman meal was enjoyed, complete with recline-on-the-elbows positions and the partaking of various plastic fruits and vegetables.

"Carpe diem," y'all.

A belated celebration of the Ides of May. Perhaps this is the patrician's family celebration which was postponed a day in lieu of some rather raucous partying. It would appear that he rather regrets allowing such partying to get so out-of-hand and is rather suffering for it now.

As for the smallest of the toga-wearers, it can only be noted that pure white togas are a symbol of candidacy for public office. Perhaps he is hoping that his due vigilance in combination with his snarky attitude towards life will win him the consulate.

I, for one, welcome our new pint-sized overlords and make promises of offerings of large quantities of sugar-laden candy.

Oh great, that's all we need... a sugar-bribed 'pint-sized' oligarchy.

Mommy, it's great to see pictures of the kids, and it's great practice for laughing silently.

As to how all this came about....

...blame it on the laundry.

Carolyn had to deliver a basket of laundry to the basement. Ethan thought it would be fun to pretend to reel her up again like a fish, except he got this loosely woven blanket to use as a net, and managed to wrap it around himself, and then Carolyn thought he looked like a Roman, and then they all insisted I take pictures...

This blog has spawned a bunch of narcissists.
