Today's Doin's
Nolan really got into his reading aloud today. I think it helps that we were up to the fairy tale section...you know, the one about the mother goat and the seven kids, and the little deer that outfoxes the tiger by claiming his horns were for forking tigers, and every spot denoted another tiger victim.
These are the kinds of stories that warm a little boy's heart, and quite possibly fire a sneaky imagination. You could practically hear Nolan taking mental notes as he read. It was the first time he volunteered to read two stories. Sometimes finishing one per day takes a bit of tricky negotiation.

We have set up an appointment for Derek on Thursday morning, barring a change of his heart rhythm. He's not looking forward to getting an IV, but I've told him he certainly won't be awake for the shock.
I think a visit to Arby's on our way home might be in order.

The weather (low 60's) was so nice, Loren decided the time was ripe for putting snow tires on two vehicles. Ethan and I did some of the grunt work--rolling tires about and such. Ethan is also a great gofer, since he's been shadowing Loren so long that he knows where all the tools are stored.
Loren and the impact wrench did most of the real work. (by the way, I learned not to pick that baby up while depressing the trigger....) My job was to lift the tires on to the hub (or whatever it's called) and occasionally ask, "Are you sure this isn't hurting your ribs?"
Anyway, another little chore is done. Only one more car to go.
Tomorrow comes colder weather, with rain and a little snow at the tail end of the system.
I guess this is the last we shall see of "spring."
