National Squirrel Appreciation Day!

 

I know....I didn't realize it either. But there are still a few hours left in the day for hunting down a nice gift for that special squirrel in your life.

Spouses don't count! No matter how applicable.

And personally, it being Sunday, I doubt that anyone would look askance on gift-giving taking place tomorrow. And hey, we had snow today, so I have a double excuse!

Oh it's hard to list ALL the things one appreciates about squirrels...of course hibernation comes to mind.

I'll bet many of us have driven by those barren trees along the road, glimpsed a trashy bunch of leaves near the top and thought, "Poor little squirrelsy... I wonder if he's cold? Is he sleeping, or outside his nest, scavenging for nuts?" (and most of all) "If you took away the tail and gave him wings, wouldn't he look an awful lot like a a really big bat ?"

These and other burning questions consume the minds of animal lovers.

But let's not get carried away, folks. There's no need to go overboard.

A simple bag of cashews would suffice.
