Arte de Nolan

It is once again time to visit that budding artist and lover of violence, Nolan

In this first picture we see the unassuming brick cottage juxtaposed with the commanding figure of a warrior, heavily armed.
First the house.

Immediately the brick motif jumps out at the viewer.

Lots and lots of bricks. Even the door is made of brick.

The tiled roof contains a most unusual feature, a window, through which can be glimpsed a table set with books.

The whole scene speaks of peace, calm and intensely brickish quietude.

Moving to the exterior of our structure we see a curious dark...."something" protruding from the left side. Upon questioning the artist I was told, "That's the hose."

Moving on to the roof, one is comforted by the homey smoke exiting the chimney. Such smoke speaks of home and hearth and quite possibly marshmallows toasting over a fine set of coals.

Atop this haven of comfort there sits a cat, purring contentedly and apparently oblivious to...

...THE FIERCE WARRIOR HANGING ABOUT BELOW!

He's big, bold and he's laying somewhat perpendicular.

But no matter, for he is obviously prepared for any contingency.

From the warrior's sturdy hat to his formidable sword to his teeth gritted in ferocious determination, THIS GUY MEANS BUSINESS!

Looking closely at the sword one is struck by the detailed beauty of the hilt and the burnished glint of the blade. So burnished that rays of light burst forth, as if to dismay the direst foe.

And if this visage were not enough, the mighty warrior is seen to utter that immortal cry of combat, "ARGGH!"

It is a reminder of the strength and fervor that wells up from the very heart and soul of the combatant...and that someone needs a little work on his "G's."

This next drawing is less complex, but no less powerful in content.
The influence of those classics of drama, "The Godzilla Series," are the inspiration for these fierce portrayals of raw monsterishness.

Rodan, Komodo Dragon and Plain Godzilla are depicted in quick succession, with fire clearly spewing from the latter two.

Barely seen in the lower far right is a small house, ablaze and hiding a wee lad who is in what can only be described as mortal danger.

Who is this poor unfortunate being?

It is none other than a self-portrait of the artist himself.

Words cannot express the anguish we feel for his plight. We can only hope that this....this "Nolan" can manage his escape, or possibly call forth the heavily armed warrior from the the previous picture to provide some type of diversion.

As an educational sidelight our talented craftsman has included examples of footprints for any brave hunters who would wish to track the dangerous Komodo or Godzilla, Plain and Tall.

The small spherical shape at the top was something of a puzzle, especially as the artist could not remember what it was, but this humble analyst begs to offer an explanation:

Sometimes it is best not to go too far in one's interpretation of another's art. Sometimes things are better left unsaid, but if I were to hazard a guess, I say it was a basketball...

...a basketball that belongs to Rodan who is a fan of the Miami Heat.
