The annual stone throwing project
Where we make vain and useless attempts to clear some of the gravel out of our ditch grass that has accumulated over winter.

Nolan, dreaming of what it must be like not to have to work so hard.
Trevor, either perfecting a fancy over-the-back stone toss, or trying to fix an ornery clip on his Bob the Builder overalls.
Ethan, examining each pebble for something potentially valuable, like a Trilobite fossil.
Derek, wondering if this work might provide an interesting pattern on the last hour of his Holter Monitor.
(way in the back) Carolyn, demonstrating her usual superb grace and excellent arm extension.
(far right) Melinda, working on green knee experiments and wondering how much this will set her behind in school for the day.
(the very back) Kendra, savoring the knowledge that this will be her last spring of stone pitching. Next year she'll miss out by being away at college and frankly, this is one of the main reasons our kids choose higher education.
