The Diet Report: Pretty good :-) I forget what I weighed in at yesterday but I've already lost a pound or two.
The Sleep Report: Not bad. Sometimes it takes a little longer to drift off, but I'm taking an extra calcium/mag/zinc before bed. The magnesium seems to help with the restless twinges.
The Holiday Report it's....
NATIONAL MILK CHOCOLATE DAY!
Of course I am a dark chocolate aficionado, but that does not prevent me from the occasional dabblings in my first love, regular chocolate. This is pretty hard to do when one is on a diet, but I did snitch a wee bit of brownie, leftover from two nights ago. Many people do not realize that leftover brownies have a caloric wane time of 15 calories per day, so my "nibble" was 30 calories less than usual, which sounds like a diet to me.
On the whole though, I do recommend dark chocolate. Even a small bite can satisfy one's cocoa cravings, and it obviously contains less sugar. Good for the heart and blood pressure, too.
Today is also the birthday of Beatrix Potter :-D This is amazing pour moi as I am finishing up a large biography from el libraro. (what's even more amazing is the fact that much of its reading took place in the bathroom...)
Kudos go out to author Linda Lear for including 100 pages of footnotes making it even more possible to finish the book by Tuesday's due date deadline.
ANYWAY, Ma will be posting a review sometime in the near future, but suffice it to say I have enjoyed the reading and learned much. Despite getting married "late" in life and having no children of her own, Beatrix managed to have a profound influence on the lives of youngsters the world over. So....um...maybe we don't all have to be the same...
More historical remembrance:
Back in 1914 the First World War began. Exactly one month after a Serbian national assassinated the Austro-Hungarian heir to the throne, Archduke Ferdinand, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia.
July 28th is (supposedly) the date of the First Fingerprint Taken, which I frankly question. First of all there is NO WAY this can be documented. Somebodies decided to give some-body the credit and it's been passed down through the ages because let's face it, no one wants to do a reprint of their 5th grader's history books.
Secondly, it's my opinion that mothers were using all KINDS of sleuthing techniques for EVER SO LONG in determining matters little and big, such as who took cookies from the cookie jar or which kid "borrowed" Mommy's camera and through a narcissistic misjudgment took a picture of himself...
Ah well.
I'll leave you with this handy household hint:
