Blizzard Report

 
Barometer has risen a tad to 29.15. Temp has also increased two degrees to 30. Winds are now 29 sustained, were 31 earlier.

New snow seems to have stopped.

We have to keep on eye on the level in the propane tank since we're using much more gas after the heat pump went belly up. Ma volunteered to go out and check. Donning Loren's huge bright-orange FedEx jumpsuit, this intrepid reporter ventured out into the dangerous elements...and that was just the breezeway.

Actually not too bad out there, though windy. Every so often it dies down for a bit and then whips up again.

I don't always like what the picture editor does to the snow photos, but this is pretty much what things look like, only not so painfully bright/white.

The kids are outside playing right now, mainly so they can tell their children one day all about how their negligent mom let them go out in a blizzard. Also for the hot chocolate, afterwards. If it were colder I wouldn't have allowed it. They're mostly staying southward of the house, out of the wind.

It doesn't seem terrible outside, but I wouldn't wish to be driving. Most of the roads from south central, up through Des Moines and angling over to the northeast corner of Iowa are not recommended for travel at this time.

Technically we are still under a blizzard warning but I wouldn't wonder if they cancel that before the previously stated time of midnight.

Still have Internet, so "YAY!"
