El Biggo Stormo Report...Oh!

Since Hampton got 7.5 inches, and Aplington received 6 (just the initial morning reports), after complicated triangulations of precise numbers, Ma has come up with the best guess that we have 6.3 new inches of snow on the ground.

We did not experience any of the possible "thunder snow" overnight, but I'm told it was heard in Cedar Rapids. Perhaps certain peoples who live in that fair city could provide confirmation on that point?

As of this morning, towing had been prohibited in southeast Iowa. We're a little concerned as to when Kendra will be able to get back. They did get started this morning, after a delay from ice covered car doors. Right now, the roads are mostly wet where they are driving (Valpo, IN).

It wasn't the best light for taking pictures, but beggar Ma's can't always be choosy.

Things looked PRET-ty snowy when I opened the door, this morning.


Now it is passable...
..looks like a nice two-foot drift settled in by the steps.

Carolyn, Ethan and I went out before breakfast and got the drive done from the road, back to the red mini-van.
Jason has been conscripted. He and Ethan are workin' their way back through the drive.

But if the road grader doesn't come through soon, ain't noboday goin' nowhere.

A tractor has been through...
...and while taking this picture, I heard a road grader working up the next mile, so we have hopes that within an hour or so...

In the country, a storm often brings the sight of high drifts as well as bare ground.

(I accessed the trunk to get out the good snow shovel)

Jason and Ethan are hard at it.
My goal is to have our driveway done so that the nice farmers don't feel they have to help us :-)
