Review without spoilers to come, but first...
More good news avec el sonno: Jason made the Dean's List!
We were just informed by letter, this morning. Actually, the letter was addressed to Jason, but since he wasn't here...
Congratulations, son numero uno!
Allow me to quote from the news release:
THAT'S MY BOY!!
And that also means that there were two of our kiddos, making separate Dean's Lists at separate colleges for separate semesters, this year.
Well done, O Noble Progeny.

On to the movie, last night.
Ma gives an unqualified "WooHoo" for the movie, UP.
First off, any work involving an old guy as the main character gets my approval. I think y'all will appreciate the voices of Ed Asner and Christopher Plummer.
And as far as taking children to see it? Go for it. This movie thankfully lacks the usual adolescent crudities and contains only one "darn," or "darnedest" (which I've exceeded...SO sorry).
And while there's the usual appeal to young kidsters, this movie also has a certain sweet poignancy that only us oldsters can fully grasp.
I won't go into the plot, but UP is about dreams. Dreams deferred, dreams accomplished, and the acceptance of new dreams. "Adventure" is their word of choice, but anyway...
Even the title has multiple meanings. I just loved this movie, though my enjoyment was tempered by a few unsupervised kids down the row from us, who seemed intent on activities such as dumping and sorting their Good-n-Plenty's, as well as exploring the ice at the bottom of their cups in search of soda to hold in their hands.
But despite that distraction, I found it a marvelous and uplifting movie complete with adventure and a certain sweetness that is not overdone.
People who go more for the sci-fi and car crash genre might find it a tad ho hum, but I can live with that, as long as they buy my ticket and take me out to Dairy Queen afterward.
Go see it. It's a good'n.

Actually, the letter was addressed to Jason, but since he wasn't here... his parents opened it, of course! :)
