Three Poignant Moments
1) When Loren was being wheeled onto the CCU ward, (over a week ago) he had to go on a specially monitored bed. An aide pushed and a nurse came alongside. As we came up to the CCU doors, a constant tone was sounding. "Ut oh, that's not good," commented the nurse. "Why? What does that mean? " asked the aide. "It means someone's coding."
Not long after, I saw people crying outside the room. Well, I guess we know how that turned out.
2) Overheard conversation in elevator between three relatives: "Oh, those are pretty flowers. Where did you get them?" "The kindergarten teachers sent them over. Wasn't that sweet? " "Yes, and they'll look real nice at the funeral."
3) I was heading for the cafeteria yesterday to grab my usual take out salad for lunch. As I got near, I noticed someone slumped to the floor by one of the doorways. A doctor came tearing past me and I heard, "CODE 45, CODE 45," over the loud speaker. I knew I coudn't be of any assisitance, so I went in and got my lunch. When I came out of the door, there were 6 or 7 doctor types, a few nurses and two crash carts. I don't know what happened, but I guess a hospital is the best place for an unexpected emergency. And, now I know what CODE 45 means.
Going home tomorrow morning. I think I need a few days away from this place.

It is hard to be surrounded by people who are so close to dying. Some times the best cure is a hug from the young to bring hope to the heart and sanity to the mind. As the young man said "It is our faith in God being the one in control that helps us to keep control even when the world can not understand." At the same time, remember to release some of those emotions as tears and screams (when by oneself if needed) so as not to cause more stress on your body and spirit then needed. God knows the fear and the hurt so hiding them from him will not help even though we want to hide them for others. Love you sis
I hope you've had time to wash your hair in peace this morning and that you have a safe drive home. Your family continues to be in my prayers.
