Wouldn't It Be Nice?
- to be as idealistic as when we were 20
- if an independent vote really meant what it was supposed to, instead of just helping to elect someone you didn't want, anyway
- if people realized that compromises are made all through life, and some aren't necessarily evil
- to have a chance to "unload" occasionaly without fear that others will think you are going off the "deep end" or slumming spiritually
- to have the health of when we were 20
- not to have to debate with the head nurse about how many times to drag the IV pole out for a walk
- if debating with the head nurse actually counted for exercise time
- to be 20 and realize that we were once a little brat ourselves, and others who were 20 were afraid of us when we were little
- to see the faces of those who (once having despised little kids) are holding their first newborn and suddenly realize the whole world doesn't revolve around just them :-)
- to be able to use Captain Kirk's "transportor" to get from home to the hospital in a second
- to have Spock's disabling shoulder manuever at the ready for an ornery kid
- to have the metabolism of a 20 year old
- to have to eat chocolate and lots of carbs in order to lose weight
- to see the fancy lady wearing fancy clothes with fancy stilettos break a heel and exclaim,
"That's it! From now on I'm wearing sweats and tennies!"
- to have them come in the room and say, "Mr. Hoyt, we think we have a heart for you....."
Patiently waiting.

Sounds to me like you've been around too many 20-year olds lately! I find so many 20 year olds are not idealists--they're already hardened cynics. Just read their blogs--it can be depressing. Well, I exaggerate. I guess maybe they are 21-year olds.
And I wonder--why would anyone wear stilettos?

There are entirely too many 20-year-old idealists out there. I suppose it might be nice to live in a utopian cloud, but it's definitely not the thing for me... give me my cynicism.

Compromises suck... I think they are evil.
You do realize that most of the College Students with whom you interact would gladly allow you to unload on us? I, for one, sing the praises of angsty catharsis on a daily basis. Read my earlier bloggings for examples.
While I admit that I was once a brat myself, this does not excuse other little brats for being bratty. Rather, they may be bratty so long as I do not have to endure their presence... I should hope my parents never forced my bratty presence on others... ;-D.
I have never fathered a child myself, however, I fail to see the appeal of newborns. Maybe that will change if/when I have one of my own.
We're working on a transporter, but right now it has this nasty tendancy to turn you inside out upon arrival and any number of other unseemly things.
I want the Vulcan death grip... not to mention a 20-year-old metabolism (mine came to me defective.)
Women in stiletto heels amuse me.
We'll continue to pray for that heart transplant, as well as for you, your husband and your family.

Insofar as the quiz getting blocked goes, we tried to get Wheeler (the creator) to keep all of that racey stuff about Ardith out of the quiz, but he steadfastly refused. In all seriousness Sharon, we had the same problem with our filter sistem last year... sorry about that.
Thainamu, please don't tell me you're a happy people... that would really not be a good foot for us to start out on. As to Ma Hoyt being Wilson, I have this sneaking suspicion that we didn't play up those antisocial tendancies of his enough in the quiz if that's where she fell out.
And as for bratlings... well, we won't go there for now.

I feel some clarifications on Happy People need to be made. In short, a Happy People* and a happy person are vastly different. See this post for a general clarification, and this one for a slightly more vitriolic insight into the matter.
*said, as always, with as much disdain as you can muster. You really ought to hear me do this, I occasionally impress myself with how much disdain I can muster.
There's a reason behind the name 'Vengeful' Cynic! Now, do you really think that using the most violent terms possible (see second post) will counteract all the *Happy People* (spoken without a BIT of disdain) in the world?
Well Sharon... we're working on that. I think it's Action Item 6 in the Shadow Council's "Pending Legislature for the Advent of Worldwide Autocracy." In short, when we take over the world, I'll get right on that.
Until such beneficient and glorious times as those however, I guess I'll just have to keep dealing out punishment, one Happy People* at a time.
