From Dawn to Dusk
This was probably the longest day we have had so far. It was dark when we left, and dark when we returned. We were told that the reason Loren had to wait so long for the Heparin to decrease was because of small vessels. There are drugs that artificially decrease the effect of Heparin, but the doctors did not want to go that route due to a risk of the small vessels clotting up. Thus, a nice three hour wait for the blood thinning drug to decrease naturally.
The procedure-without-end finally came to a close around two, giving Loren the chance to eat for the first time at 2:30. Another hour or so of laying flat on his back and he was good to go. We rushed down to x-ray, raced over to the clinic and scooted into the late appointments just 20 minutes before closing time.
The result of the biopsy was 1a. Not quite a perfect score, but Doctor E. says the differences between a zero and 1a rejection are negligible. Everything continues to go rather smoothly, recuperation-wise :-)
Finally, FINALLY we were able to return to The Big House, where we stumbled in during a little birthday party, with two distinctly little people. Yes, we are talking CHILDREN! Children in the house where youngsters under the age of 17 are not allowed. For any reason!
And thus, the day ended. True, while I had missed my Ethan's 8th birthday, others were celebrating with youngsters on site. Still, one must keep the larger picture in mind. Petty jealousies have no place in life. It is worth remembering what my name means in the original Hebrew: "She who is not bitter and does not seek revenge."
Being the mature adults, we refused to change out of our street shoes and took candy up to our room.

I missed my baby's birthday yesterday too, but he turned 26. I did send him an email asking "Why are you celebrating if I did all the work??" The Christmas gift his gf hand-carried to him (in Ethiopia) will have to do as a birthday gift too.
I keep hearing how cold it is up there--you poor things! It was in the 70s here yesterday.
Actually, it is not terribly cold, YET. But soon, I hear it will be 20 below. That's 20 below ZERO.
Do you guys have a "zero" on your thermometers down there?
Alas, out our way we do have a zero on the themometer but it rarely has been used.....we are complaining about 32 degrees (above)! Although we have a few new puddles....almost lakes around here.
