Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt,

One of my special responsibilities as a Faculty member at Grace College is to serve as Faculty sponsor of the local chapter of Alpha Chi, a National Academic Honor society. Membership is limited to those students who are in the top 10% of the Junior and Senior class and who demonstrate a lifestyle and character which is approved by the faculty of Grace College.

It is my pleasure to inform you that Sharon has met these rigorous qualifications and will be inducted into the Grace College Chapter of Alpha Chi on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, as a part of the 2005 Homecoming/parents weekend.

I hope that it will be possible for you to attend this special recognition service for Sharon. I am looking forward to meeting you at the ceremony.

Another one of my girls has "done good."

Sorry, Sharon, but we won't be able to attend this Sunday. I am spending most of Saturday taking your brother in to Waterloo to take the SAT. (Jason doesn't need it to get into LeTourneau, but we'd already signed up for it, and, I am hoping we will get "extra points" and possible scholarship consideration just because we try harder. He is taking his second practice test of the week, even as I type)

Much as we would like to meet your advisor, give him our best, and our regards, as your father and I both went to school with him :-D, though, your dad knew him better than I.

If I WERE coming, I would be sure and bring my camera and take lots of pics :-)

(p.s. If this whole "foreign language thing" doesn't work out, you can always get a job in construction work....)
