Out Ioway

My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of Heaven and earth,
He will not let your foot slip-
He who watches over you will not slumber.

I Own "Earth Shoes"......

.....therefore I am.

Yes, it was another successful shopping trip.

I've started taking turns with the kids accompanying me, and treating them to McDonald's. Of course, the children think I am being generous, but we all know it is really so I can have a little grease to keep me going. I've worked this all out on a careful schedule--every other week a child goes with me, then on the off weeks, Kendra comes along so she can get some driving practice. I diet when I'm not at McDonald's.

Jason could use the driving practice, but he is not what I would describe as your consummate shopper. His idea of looking for clothes is to grab the first shirt on the rack and say, "I'm done. When do we eat?" If it's groceries, he puts in pleas for pop and pizza and pretty much leaves the rest to me. If we're in Wal-Mart, he visits the electronics section.

Jason doesn't very often accompany me on shopping trips.

I realized just how long it had been, though, since I'd taken Trevor out. Usually I sneak off shopping while he is taking his nap. Today I combined Trevor and Nolan, because, when you lay them end to end, they almost make up a whole person :-)

ANY-way, we are cruising along and I suddenly hear this excited shout, "MOMMY!"

Thinking a semi might be hurtling towards us I managed to squeeze out, "What?" while glancing nervously from side to side.

"A combine! I LOVE combines! Nolan, don't you just love combines? Mommy...don't you love combines too....?" *continued chatterings*

Yes, I really have to get that kid out, more.

But getting back to Earth Shoes, I picked up two pair at the Goodwill store this afternoon. One for me and one for Carolyn. Of course this has no significance unless you've been involved in the recent Hoyt family discussion of Earth Shoes, but I found it amusing that soon after zapping off a family email, I came upon these pairs of shoes.

Naturally, I took this as a providential sign and bought them forthwith. Never let it be said that I stumble over the rocks and pitfalls of logical thought.

Earth Shoes. Feelings. It all seemed to fit, somehow.

Two recent quotes from church yesterday:

Trevor--upon holding the newly distributed February calendar: "Where we live on dis?"

Nolan--spying that red cylindrical metal thing affixed to the wall: "Look Mommy, an executioner."

I have kids.....therefore I laugh :-)

Therefore, we laugh, too.
I pulled that "Oh, look . . ." thing on Ron recently when I spied a new baby donkey on the way into town. (Let's see, I think we started with 7, and thought I saw a new 12th.) Not appreciated by the driver! Oh well, maybe if it were delivered in less excited tones.

Hey, MoM :-) Congratulations to Rebecca.

Let's see, Jason has a younger cousin that might get there by Jason's senior year at Let., and I'm guessing Melinda will want to go to LeTourneau....(should get there by fall of 2012)

Then there are Ethan, Nolan and Trevor, who might decide on Let....especially if there are Gaming Majors by then :-D

I think there should be multiple family member discounts....

Nancy--I do the same thing, only with baby horses. Now that I carry a camera almost everywhere, I am particularly dangerous.
