Hey Ho
These pictures prove that: 1) we went to the fireworks last night, and 2) I am not a professional photographer.
I could have messed with the exposure but a) I forgot, b) at some point you do want to sit back and enjoy yourself with the kids, and c) I was afraid it might embarrass them if I fiddled with the camera too much.
But mostly I just forgot.
(Guess I won't have to go to the trouble of putting a black border around the pics....)
Here we have irrefutable proof of something we've all long suspected....
....fireworks are devised from small Nike symbols hung on wires and suspended in mid-air while hidden flashlights illuminate them for the crowd below.
I will never cease to be amazed at the miracles of modern technology.
In a moving tribute to Al Gore, the city of Iowa Falls set off several singular displays which were entitled, "Acid Rain."
We missed Ackley's fireworks at the end of Sauerkraut Days, so we went to the city I do all my shopping in, Iowa Falls.
Pretty good stuff, with continual action. My only complaint was that we didn't realize when the grand finale was coming, accustomed as we are to Ackley's ten-minute delay while their team sets up the additional rubber bands and high-definition sparklers needed for El Biggo Closo.
Trevor did ask, "Mommy? Did anyone bwing da binocuwers?" "No," I replied, rubbing the crick in my neck from looking straight up into the sky, they were that close.
I am happy to report that despite the darkness and masses of peoples, none of the little kids got lost and the police didn't even notice I'd parked next to a yellow curb.
So, even though two vehicles are on the fritz and I had the lack of forethought to schedule four dentist appointments starting at 8 this morning (we got home at 11, last night) things are going fairly well.
Sharon transported the doomed-of-tooth and I leave shortly to drive a very loud car to Midas Muffler in Cedar Falls.
Which means, I'll soon be visiting a foreign country...that of the car repair waiting room.
*checks to see if I have all the necessary shots*
