I have just discovered a great new way to get certain errant college freshmen to communicate with their chère maman.
All one has to do is leave an IM message, (this works best if they are pretending to be "away")....something to the effect of, "You sure are a Turkey," or "What are we? Chopped liver?" or my personal favorite....."I WAS IN LABOR WITH YOU FOR NINTY-FIVE HOURS, fellah!
(Course, it was really only about five....but he doesn't need to know that)
And then, sooner or later, pure unadulterated shame will kick in and they will leave a message when YOU are away, or if they think the world is about to end, even TALK to you.
Oh sure, they might give some extremely lame excuse, claiming to study for a test or something, but at least you will have a modicum of contact.
And that's all any parent really asks for.....just a few crumbs of communication from time to time.
That, and undying loyalty, near adoration, and a lifetime of contributions to the Social Security fund.

Hey, we try to talk to the parent figures from time to time, but when you have so much hw from places like LETU, it is very hard to have time to sleep, more or less attempt to talk to someone that has (in my case) no clue as to what you are talking about when talking about assignments and the such.
I hope you are just talking about contributing to the Social Security Fund and not hopeing to GET anything out of it. I know when I get old enough to draw from it, there will be nothing left.
