Ma's Odds and Ends

Sorry. You're dealing with a compulsive blogger, here. But just look at it this way...the world is probably safer with me inside a building.

Anyway, while fixing lunch I thought I detected a whimper from the addition. It was none other than little Trevor, in from his practice runs on the sled slope.

He was cold, he needed unwrapping, and there was a rather formidable snotcicle hanging from one nostril.

Poor little dear! I was tempted to run for the camera and capture it for posterity, but as his emotional stability seemed to wane with each passing nanosecond, I opted for that whole mom-to-the-rescue scenario.

And judging by the color of the nasally discharge, he's not over that cold, yet. But I won't bore you with any more of those bacterial details.

Kendra was sent to procure a soft afghan and administer emergency blanket therapy on the couch. When next I saw him, he was his chirpy self, despite having been denied hot chocolate due to imminent luncheon. (really, I think that's half the reason they go out...the prospect of hot chocolate, which pretty much shoots half a gallon of milk)

Now what was that other item....OH YES.

On a whim, I again googled for a language book I'd wanted for Derek. Madrigal's Magic Key to German was nowhere to be found on the Internet last summer, though its textbookish absence was mourned by several.

Lo and behold, I found it! Somehow though, the price seems...I don't know....a tad STEEP.

If I took ALL the money I'd spent over the years on my greatest educational frustration--foreign language materials--I could probably afford this.

But then I have to ask myself, "What's more important in the long run: The children's education? Or my weekly chocolate budget?"

And that's when everything becomes clear.
