Sweat and Agony
Howdy hey, this is Sweaty Ma taking a mowing break.
OK, the agony part was a little over the top, but it got you to read, didn't it...heh, heh.
It is HOT out there!
*ker-CHOO*
(oh man...NEVER sneeze with a mouthful of cashews. NOT a pretty sight...)
The weather folks say it's only 83 degrees with humidity at 63% and dew point 69. Frankly, I think it's a lot, lot worse. But then, who can argue with guys in suits and cushy air-conditioned "weather labs?"
Oh, and get this...the wind chill is also 83 degrees. Now I find that terribly helpful. So much so that I'm expecting to hear about the heat index next January.
Speaking of whining, I noticed the the next field over--where I mow along the fence--has sprayed weedkiller on the corn. This is no doubt good for the corn, but there's a hefty odiferousness by the sagging wires.
As they would have said in more genteel times, "Methinks it doth make a maggot to gagoth."
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's what they would have said. But I'm almost done with that section and I gotta admit, that corn does look green and snappy :-)
*slurps Diet Cherry Coke*
Zowee. Break's over and I hafta go back out...*sniff*....PLUS, I scratched my leg on a dead weed stalk. We're talkin' four inches long, blood, pain...and....and everything.
*Ker-CHOO*
I think I'm allergic to mowing...

Don't breathe that stuff too deeply...
What I really wanted to comment about however was "so how did the talent show presentation go?"
You built up all of this suspense talking about practice, and composing etc. But nary a word about the results. There only two conclusions that can be drawn:
1. It was so wonderful you are reluctant to brag, or
2. It was so awful, you don't want to admit to the experience.
You simply can't leave us in the dark about such important issues as these.
Well now, we did get through the number.
I blatted several notes (trumpet) but did get through some other tricky parts.
Loren forgot to come in one place and then didn't play some of the harmony quite correctly, (not that I'm keeping track :-) but basically I can't think of any substantial derivations from the intended effect.
I do know that brother-in-law Stan took LOTS of pictures, and I'll put one up on the blog before long.
Also, I do think that it was video-taped and I wonder (not to mention cringe) if a possible YouTube version might turn up...
(I would be happy to post that on the blog--no matter HOW personally embarrassing--if my techie nephew Nathan were to get it in usable form)
The listeners would be better at evaluating the performance, as I was pretty nervous about the whole thing and just hoped we could make it through.
