You'll have to excuse the cheesy title on this link, but beets aren't just for eating anymore.

That's right, they go on the roads in winter. While Ohio may just now be experimenting with fillers for their sand and salt mixtures, Cedar Rapids in good ol' Ioway has been using the red stuff for 4-6 years.

I have two children that would find this an admirable use for vegetables they hate.

And have you heard the Dilbert commotion? An Iowa casino employee posted a Dilbert cartoon on a bulletin board. Unluckily for him, a security camera allowed the big whigs to identify him. Ever so helpful in firing the right person, dontcha know.

Now the actual Dilbert cartoon retells the story, hee, hee.

On this week's diet lifestyle change update: lost 1/2 pound, so still whittling down. That makes a net loss of 5.5 pounds over 6.5 weeks, and considering I was "up" earlier this week, today's weigh-in was a real victory :-)

Went 5.3 miles on the treadmill yesterday. It's true...Ma ROCKS.

Sometime I'll go over my regimen, which I'm trying to make food-friendly enough that I can stay with it long-term, instead of the yo-yo business that had become a way of life. But that will do for now, since...
