Reportage
First off, Kendra's coming home today for Spring Break! Not quite sure about the details, but Ma will be driving at least 30 minutes and possibly 3 hours, one way. Matters not :-) Good times will be had.
The Lifestyle Report: this week's weigh-in shows a one pound gain. I'm sure this is all muscle :-D I've been hitting the treadmill hard in the past weeks, trying to get on three times daily, shortly before each meal.
Surely this will pay off, no? The first week the average was around 2- 2.5 miles per day.
Last week I got up to 4.6 mile average for each of six days! That takes close to 80-90 minutes per day.
So here is my basic philosophy: I figure a person oughtta to be able to eat normally and maintain or lose weight if they are exercising enough.
By "eat normally," I mean not consist on rice cakes and soy cheese. Moderate portions of real food. If I only have butter-type products twice a week, then by gum I want to HAVE real butter! And if that means half a baked potato with real butter and real sour cream...so be it.
And yes, I will have an occasional brownie, because I don't want to feel like I'm on a strict diet and just counting down the days un-TIL I can have a brownie. There just has to be some sense of moderation as opposed to going without everything for the rest of one's life.
That said, I haven't lost much weight recently, but I'm still gonna stick with the program.
Not counting today, my average this week is 5.075 miles per day! Like I said, there should be a pay off, sometime.
The bad part about all this exercise is that, contrary to what people tell you, instead of curbing one's appetite, it seems to increase mine.
Of course, this is just so much blathering to people who've never struggled with their weight. Even my own kids have said, "Just don't eat." The only people who understand are other people who've been overweight.
The rest just shake their self-righteous heads in an air of bewilderment.
That's OK though. We all have our areas of life with which we cannot identify. Take me, for instance...being blessed with innate humility, I've never comprehended prideful people...

I, too, have an increased appetite when I exercise. It's hard. Right now I am trying to burn the cumulative pounds of 2 babies and a stressful year.
Walking is my favorite thing. I figure three miles four to five times a week pushing approximately 50 lbs. should make a dent in this excess poundage. Hopefully...
