El Marsho Biggo

Ma finally got out to Big Marsh today :-D

First I did my duty by dropping off almost a year's supply of old cans and bottles at the dumph. I guess the young whippersnapper dude has given up on me, for he made nary a mention of recycling, this time.

Then, armed with my trust camouflage backpack containing keys, wallet, cell phone, protein bars, apple, water and extra camera battery, I proceeded to the very wet and protected marshland.

It was so wet, Ma had to wade in to get TO the marsh! Once you get on the premises, there are several car-width raised tracks to walk along.

I spent 3 hours there, amidst clouds and occasional drizzle, but it was a great time, though somewhat tiring.

Although it is still early for Iowa wildflowers, there were a few specimens about...


The Pelicans! Oh yay for Ma...she found the American Pelicans :-)
(it's just like the scene in the Wizard of Oz when Toto escapes from the mean ol' neighbor lady....."You came back...you came back !")

Well now, if you want to see more, you'll just have to go to the Picasa album I am working on....it'll be ready sometime tonight.
