Had a great class on shrubs, trees and pruning last night. Great in the sense that I learned things from the reading material and lecture that I didn't know. Not so great in that I discovered I've been performing pruning faux pas.

Oh well.

Say, did you know that hedges can become 'dysfunctional' if they are sheared incorrectly?

Suddenly, I see a whole world of plant psychology, opening up.

But basically, when it comes to shrubs and pruning, it's all about one's personal choice. Do you want the manicured look? Then be ready for constant maintenance. Do you wish for a more natural look? Select branches to cut back at the source.

The MAIN thing I learned last night about choice, was that if you want to get at the chocolate in your purse more quietly, go for the Dove's package. If you wish to have a noisier chocolate experience, go for the Hershey's Bliss.

Like I said, it's all about one's personal choice.
