Whee Doggies!
Was it ever hot, today.
Ma was sweatin' like a raccoon with a hound hot on its trail. "Must....keep....mowing..." I mumbled to myself, while pushing, restarting and filling the recalcitrant machine with gas every few minutes.
It was so humid it was hard to breathe. Guess I'm not used to this season yet, 'cause it twernt all that bad compared to say, July.
Anyway, as promised, here are a few pictures of my ditch rescues:
Newly acquired last year, these Scouring Rushes returned with vigor, this spring.
They're planted directly behind my rose bushes, as a sort of curtain, if you will.
I know the farmers hate this invasive plant, but Ma loves the Yellow Toadflax.
You can see why it's called a wild snapdragon.
Solomon's Seal will always be a favorite. It has a graceful drape to its shape, with the little flower bells hanging down, sorta quiet and shy-like.
Reminds me of myself, hee, hee.
I saved the best for last...a white version of the Wild Prairie Rose, which may or may not be on our property.
Hey, at least it's getting a chance to flourish and spread. It's my way of perpetuating the state flower.
With great clouds of lightning off to the northeast, we wait with sweaty breath to see what the overnight brings.
Remind me not to mow in the hot, humid heat, next time. I have a rip-roaring headache. Can you say, "MIGRAINE?"
This lil' Ma is sayin' "hello" to ibuprofen and acetaminophen.
