Out Ioway

My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of Heaven and earth,
He will not let your foot slip-
He who watches over you will not slumber.

As the Summer Turns

We successfully (read: no one drowned) made it through the first of two expected trips to the lake, yesterday. Pictures to come, most assuredly.

The summer is waning and we now have three potential monarch butterflies in waiting.

Nolan found two caterpillars in one day, and they are both in chrysalis, even as we speak/type.

Their names are "Stripes," and "Stripey."

Trevor, most appropriately, found a much smaller version, a few days ago. He has just replenished new milkweed leaves, much needed since the little critter immediately made an instar change, shed it's skin and will, no doubt, be looking toward larger epigastric horizons.

Trevor's worm-beast is called "Strippy."

My boys...achieving new heights in vocabulary, one caterpillar at a time.

*sniff*...It just makes me so proud.

There was an earlier attempt at caterpillar captivity, but a very strange thing happened: it attached to the lid of the jar, elongated and dried up, its silken threads extended beneath....helpless....a harsh reminder, symbolic, sad and shroudy.

But we're over that, now, and everything's good.
