Life in the Yard

We had a furry visitor a couple days ago...
...who seemed enamored with the mini-van. When I went out to get a closer look, the woodchuck climbed up the wheel and into the engine.

Opening the hood and clacking around with the yardstick did little to dislodge him. I'd worry about it, but that's the vehicle Kendra drives, so....

These Cosmos are quite the attraction to the sulfur butterflies. Here you can even see it's proboscis (if you click on the picture), snaking out to get nectar.

This next one is just weird...

A dead grasshopper, wings outspread, clasping the upper reaches of a Scouring Rush.
Once would have been fine, but I saw another one, in exactly the same position. Suddenly, music to The Twilight Zone was "doo, doo, doo-ing" through my head.

Again with the cosmos?

But they're so easy to grow. So carefree and beautiful :-)
