Just Another Day, Tomorrow...

...or not.

Oh we'll buckle down to school in the morning. The boys will grumble, as usual, and try to sneak off to their Legos for more refinements to their howitzer-wielding combines.

But then I'll pack the kids and a Coke in the Lincoln and drive to Iowa City. There, we'll hob-nob with Derek and see what life's like when you're nineteen and they slice you open to stick in a pacemaker.

It's not major surgery, just a simple tucking of the device under the skin and a slightly less simple screwing of the leads into the heart.

But we would appreciate your prayers.

Prayers for safety as Loren goes down early to take Derek to check-in.

Prayers for the rest of us as we follow, later.

Prayers for Derek and the procedure to go well, with no complications.

Prayers for safety getting back home.

Prayers for Derek's quick recovery and smooth return to a workable lifestyle.
