T.S. Eliot Could Have Started Like This
We went to the library today. Two, actually. Two libraries, one and a half hours total driving time, and quick stops at two stores. Took a total of three and a half hours. Not bad, with seven children in tow. Course, most of them take care of themselves. Loren was planning to go along, but got rather tired and opted to remain home. Carolyn, (9) who had been complaining that library trips were "boring," was relieved to be able to stay home and play nurse. When I left them, Loren was showing her how the cell phone worked, explaining what "911" meant, and other necessities.
What with all the literary activity of late, I'm starting to feel a little inspired. Maybe I should make a stab at some poetry.
"Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Sugar is sweet, though
the pounds will accrue.
Accruement reminds me of getting rich, too,
And that's an endeavor I wouldn't pooh-pooh.
"Pooh" is the name of a goofy old bear,
Who's fluffy and furry and far from contraire.
Contrary people are hard to endure,
I try to be patient and kind and demure.
"Da" murmur of rivulets and rivers and streams,
Is like unto that when bad poetry screams. "

That's enough for one session. Have to rest the ol' noggin. But don't worry, there's plenty more where that came from. And Sharon, if you do get a poetry club organized on campus, please feel free to use any of my works. Free of charge. (no, no, don't thank me)
In closing, I would like to dedicate this next to my oldest daughter, Ardith, in honor of her "favorite" vegetable: 365 Reasons to Eat Chocolate September 23

I approve of that reason to eat chocolate.
So if we want to forego an entire bowl of lima beans, we have to eat dozens and dozens of candy bars?

We read "Murder in the Cathedral" tonight. I was the Chorus and messenger. It was lots of fun! and that was a REALLY good play!!!!
Eating chocolate instead of lima beans is simply substituting cacao beans for lima beans. And think of the economic advantages. It takes more cacao beans to produce an amount of chocolate equivalent by weight to an amount of lima beans, thus, chocolate consumption would require increased production, more jobs, and better economies in the Third World countries supplying much of the world's cacao than would lima bean consumption.
I've always had a sneaking suspicion that I was making a world-wide impact.
