A Little Episode
I just returned back from Rochester this evening and will give a small update on Loren.
He was sitting at his computer on Sunday morning when he thought he felt he heart going fast. He got over to the monitor to witness it. The techs in the monitoring room saw it too and felt he might have been paced out of it.
When the device was interrogated it was discovered he had indeed been burst paced. This is a mechanism by which he is given a strong pacing signal for tachycardia (fast heart rate) which is less than fibrillation. (I'm guessing 250 or more constitutes v-fib) In this particular instance, his rate was around 150-170. It is good that he did not require a shock. It is good that one burst pacing remedied the situation. But it is a sign that he is still unstable.
So, there you have it. Time for me to read to the kids.
