Yes, Virginia, we've gotten the flu (shot)

We went, were shot, and lived to tell about it. I don't think this will compare with Dad's version, but then, I have never been prone to exaggeration.
They took the nine of us in groups of three. I guess they were still recovering from the emotional shock of last year, when the entire tribe was taken back at once. At least, that's what my dad said. One has to wonder. Especially since I asked the kids if they REALLY cheered as Grandpa stoically received his flu shot.....*blank looks*....."Cheering? Why would we cheer....?"
Charlie Brown band-aids and Nemo stickers helped soften the blow for the youngest. They looked especially nice with Trevor's Winnie the Pooh shoes and Bob the Builder overalls. My question is: "When do I get paid for all these free endorsements?"
The nurse was great. Just enough sass to keep everyone smiling, and a quick light touch with the needle. Jason, demonstrating he'd inherited Loren's gift for tact, made the imprudent remark, "I liked the shots at Wal-Mart better. They didn't hurt so much."
That earned him a Nemo sticker and some ribbing from the nurse :-D
Back in the van, he showed traces of Grandpa as he exclaimed, "That needle felt like it was 2 centimeters wide. Now I know what it's like to be shot!"
Jason and Trevor continued their war stories on the way out of the clinic drive...
"I'll bet you cried."
"Noooo....I tink you cwied...."
Trevor was very brave. He started to cry, but then choked it back while burrowing into my shoulder.
I am happy to report that we were all brave little bunnies. Tweet
