Out Ioway

My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of Heaven and earth,
He will not let your foot slip-
He who watches over you will not slumber.

The Final Frontier....

....northwestern Iowa

And just what is that bright twinkle in the upper left-hand corner of the photo? Is it...

a) Venus?

b) Mars?

c) A star?

d) A FedEx spaceship to aid in delivery to the far reaches of northwestern Iowa?

e) The reflection off Ma's frozen fingers, taking pictures in near zero-degree temps?

The answer: probably "c," though "d" and "e" were credible options.

We can put a man on the moon, but Ma can't google "What did I see in the sky this morning?" and find out which star it was.

As to answer "d," Loren drove 350 miles yesterday to do his part for Fred Smith's dissertation paper-that-turned-into-a-company. 500 miles if you count his commute to and from work.

Loren called me as he was heading back to the station yesterday, "I delivered to the my farthest western town, so far...Marathon, Iowa. You'll have to look it up on the map."

I did check it out, and it is SO FAR away one could well nigh glimpse the Rocky Mountains. Possibly. Suffice it to say, things are pret-ty sparse west of Des Moines.

Loren doesn't mind this "far-out" route. He likes to drive and it gives him plenty of time to listen to Rush, Hannity and the rest of the gang.

Now, I ran across an interesting link that explains the new FedEx logo...
