Mister Phoneman
"Doot doot, doot doot, doot doot doot doot, doot doot doot doot dooooot....
Doot doot, doot doot, doot doot doot doot, doot doot doot doot dooooot, Mister
Phoneman,
Come by the house.
Hook up that phone, now,
Don't be a louse.
Ma drove down 'specially
To sit in the house-y,
When I should be at home
With our dead mouse-y, Mister
Phoneman,
Lend me your ear.
Could you explain just why I was here, won't you
Please find time to come....
So that I won't think you're a bum.
Doot doot, doot doot, doot doot doot doot, doot doot doot doot dooooot....
*key change*
Doot doot, doot doot, doot doot doot doot, doot doot doot doot dooooot, Mister
Phoneman,
While you weren't here,
I spiffed up beds, the
Weeds I did clear.
I raked the grass that Ardith's been mowin'
And got a sunburn where my skin was showin' Mister
Phoneman,
You didn't stop by.
But it's OK, I'm not gonna cry, 'cause I
Had a love-ly day....
Still, I think you could have called and TOLD us the phone was hooked up already and someone just had to be there in CASE something went wrong.....and I'm sorry, but now I'll have to put you on "hold" and you can listen to "Feelings," played over and over and over...
For a REALLY LONG time.
p.s. Do not be surprised if you receive a dead mouse in the mail.
All my love,
Ma"

I wonder how old you have to be to get your post.
About our age, I guess.
Don't you just feel sorry for people younger than us?
:-D
I get it, but that's due to all the Lawrence Welk shows we watched growing up.
As a side note, the people I talked to at Qwest last week really should have told me it wasn't as necessary to have someone at the house as they made it sound. I feel a bit bad about that.
So, let me get this straight...
YOU feel bad because I :
-got to drive by myself and listen to what-EVER I wanted to on the radio
-spent the day in or near a house that did not even re-MOTE-ly smell of dead beasts
-got to eat tapioca pudding for lunch
-had the thrill of working out in the yard, which--and you should know this by now--I LOVE to do
-was forced to withstand a whole day without little people bugging me about "who stole who's Legos (oh yeah, THAT was hard)
-actually made progress on a crossword puzzle, while drinking three glasses of your grapefruit juice
-was privileged to meet three of your neigbors (by the way, Dave says he'll go halfsies with you if you want those big maples trimmed...you know, the ones that broke off a branch and killed his first garage)
Get real !
(can I come again, sometime?
Please?)
*laughs* Points noted.
