I'm not sure what we're supposed to DO, other than glance around occasionally and try to be on the lookout for errant rivers, children and seafood.

One can only hope that Homeland Security is keeping tabs on things.

National Almond Butter Crunch Day!

Really now, what IS Almond Butter Crunch. And how did it get it's own day?

Most of us don't care, but you can buy some candy, order a mug, or even procure the sugar free type if you're a certain diabetic I know (doesn't that just look yummy, Cynic?).

Today is also the anniversary of the introduction of the REMOTE CONTROL in 1964, though as we see there were various devices developed before that year.

Moving on to people we find that June 29th is the birthday of Slim Pickens, one of the most memorable character actors, in my opinion.

Now here is someone's birthday that up until three years ago wouldn't have merited a second glance from me:

William J. Mayo, who founded Mayo Clinic with his brother, Charles. You can read a bit of history here and here.

Hurry up and celebrate, for tomorrow is Meteor Day, National Ice Cream Soda Day, and Superman's Birthday.
