Harvest Time!
It was early morning when we saw Mr. Frey drive up in his pick-up. He walked out into the bean field, looked at the crop, tasted a few beans and then left.
Would today be the day?
Inquiring little boys wanted to know.

In the meantime, Ma and the school principal had made arrangements to take the following afternoon off. It would be hot and might well be the last chance to visit the lake. With a visit to the park website it was discovered that the Ecoli swimming ban had been lifted. The Pine Lake excursion was on !
Then Farmer Frey came back with the bean head for the combine. Ethan strolled on out for a consult and discovered that since it was clouding up, Mr. Frey wasn't sure whether he'd start harvesting today (Thursday) or not...a potential conflict of interests ensued.
"Mommy! If he doesn't start today, that means he'll be harvesting to-morrow, and that means....oh NO! What about swimming?!"
"Indeed."
"Well, we can't go to the lake. That's all there is to it."
("Indeed")
There was extreme gnashing of teeth until....harvest begins!

Ah....the beautiful sight of grain flowing into a semi.

Dreaming...

I'm planning to put up a Picasa web album of the best harvest pictures from the last three years.
But that'll have to wait for another day. This afternoon we are off to Pine Lake!
