Out Ioway

My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of Heaven and earth,
He will not let your foot slip-
He who watches over you will not slumber.

Reports and Fun

The Ardith Report: if you want to get the first-hand account, check out her post. At present, barring something untoward, she's planning to go back to work on Monday.

The Diet Report: lost another pound, so that makes 4 pounds since Sunday :-) I'm gonna take a break from weighing in, so as to set myself up for a pleasant surprise (hopefully) at the end of next week.

The Pink Report: The Breast Cancer Site has acheived 35% of their goal for October. Remember, each click counts as two, this month. Your click is free and goes toward funding free mammograms.

Daughter Sharon forwarded an email--and she never does this--concerning 12 ways to get rid of a telemarketer. GOOD STUFF :-D We don't get those any more, since we're on the 'no call' list. But Ma will have to share one every so often, to spread out the fun. Here's the first:

2. If you get one of those pushy people who won't shut up, just listen to their sales pitch.
When they try to close the sale, tell them that you'll need to go get your credit card. Then, just set the phone down and go do laundry, shopping or whatever.
See how long that person waits for you to get your credit card.

On a related note, those annoying campaign calls have started coming in, and Ma just hangs up, recording or not. Can't WAIT until the election's over.

From the BBC list of 50 favourite (British spelling :-) words:
28. kakistocracy: The government of a state by the worst citizens. A very useful word!
Helen Collins, London, England

Wow, I have never heard of kakistocracy before. Some Greek-loving cynic made that one up. So is Helen Collins the finder of the word, or the inventor?
