Out Ioway

My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of Heaven and earth,
He will not let your foot slip-
He who watches over you will not slumber.

"Look Ma, No Cavities!"

I don't know how we did it but we came away free and clear from the dentist office. Cavity-wise, that is.

Maybe those doom-and-gloomers are right...maybe the end of the world IS near.

At least I'll have decent teeth to enjoy it.

There are two persons who have to brush better, but really, this is the second or third check-up in a row whereby no one needs to return. A cause for celebration!

Naturally, we went right out and bought some snacks to eat on the way home. String cheese, because we're just that health conscious, and cookies, because we don't want to make other people feel bad by appearing perfect.

However, once you've had your teeth worked over, the joy of eating takes a back seat to the soreness and ache by polishing our pearly whites to a new luster of yellow (we're not known for gleaming whiteness, but we all have nice personalities).

Before arriving home, I stopped and bought a copy of THE ACKLEY WORLD JOURNAL, hoping against hope that Kendra's being named to the dean's list might be mentioned, but alas, not yet.

(that's one dollar, so far, Kendra...not that I'm keeping track, or anything)

Upon opening the door to the house and distributing the new toothbrushes, it occurred to Nolan that he was not allowed to pick out a toy this time around, which gave us all opportunity to comment on how he must be growing up.

These spoken words of affirmation did little to ease his loss of cheap, breakable toyage, just as his reaction did not particularly exhibit signs of the maturation process at work.

But I still think there is hope for the future and take comfort in the knowledge that we have no cavities.

Wow. No cavities, right after Christmas. Someday they'll thank you for always asking them morning and evening if they've brushed their teeth. Oh wait, I could thank you now. Thank you, Mommy. Mot that I really know if I have any, but it doesn't feel like it.

That's funny, because just last night I was thinkin', "Ya know, I oughtta get some credit for this..."

But seriously, thanks for the 'thank you.'

:-)

Almost, it reminds me of something I read in the Bible...
