Ma's Newsy Nuggets

First, a glimpse of our morning commute:
It's blowin' that stuff all over the place, and the gravel roads will probably drift shut in places, soon.

Derek and I made it home OK, though we had a bit of drift-kalumphing.

And after getting careful instructions (from Covenant, in Waterloo) to go to the West Campus and not the main hospital in Mason City, naturally, it turned out to be the hospital, in the end.

But we had a nice tour of the West campus, dontcha know.

Of a more arresting nature, throwing snowballs can land you in the hoosegow. Tsk, tsk.

And in a part of Iowa I won't mention, a woman has been arrested for not returning a library book that was checked out in April of 2008. I'm sure you can find it yourself, if you try, but I'm not including the link because the lady's picture is up and everything. ("Book 'em, Danno!") I mean really....

I gotta say, OUR librarians are much more reasonable.

Finally, just in case you thought googling was a harmless past time, someone has figured up the carbon cost, thereof.

Let's all get together, forgo a google or two, and send the savings to that poor lady mentioned above.

Some things just defy imagination.
