I got nuthin'
By way of title, that is.
Here's a shot taken over at Prairie Bridges Park, sometime last week.
I went in hopes of fresh air to aid my health, and peace and quiet to soothe my sickie-stressed soul.
Failed on both attempts.
Still sick, and soon after I got to the park, two of the local yobs rode their bikes back and forth in front of the main pond, quaking and honking on their duck and geese calls in an obvious attempt to start avian Armageddon.
I mostly managed to keep half the park between them and me and procure a few more pics.
But all in all, it's becoming increasingly difficult to maintain my cheery self, for as everyone no doubt knows by now, when not sick or trying to lose weight or dreading the upcoming school tests, I'm the epitome of exuberant good spirits.
HOWEVER, I must get back to full strength as the middle of the week will require a trip to the libraries, as well as grocery shopping.
Also, my 9-year-old son brought me back to reality this morning when he yelled down the stairs, "MOMMY...I'm on my last pair of underwear..."
There is a limit to how long you can put off the laundry, and Nolan hitting his last pair of 'wears is it (people would appreciate this more if they knew that in the past he's made a pair last out most of a week, but I believe we now have that formerly deplorable situation in hand).
This entailed five loads of laundry, despite staying home from church to nurse my congested face. And I kept the three younger boys home with me, just because it's so much fun to still have to watch people when you're sick.
But thanks to a Bob the Builder video, I got to lay down for a while, even though I never completely warmed up despite wearing full clothing under the electric blanket turned to "5."
You know what they say: People who are continually cold are probably too skinny!
Oh yes. From my mouth to God's ears.
The Long Road Back to Ma has hit a snag this week, what with sickness and Trevor's birthday. Also, I'm going down to visit Ardith next Friday--another reason to get well!--for a prearranged dinner out in honor of our ages at the moment, 50 and 25.
It seemed kinda magical and so when I suggested that she take me out to celebrate she wisely replied, "Sure!" It will be fun, especially as we'll be checking out a used book store for which she gave me a gift card for Christmas :-)
Woohee...I always knew having a gazillion kids was gonna pay off, some day (for the rest of you guys, it's never too early to start making plans).
So for the next week or two I only hope to stay even, instead of losing weight.
But that's OK.
One can never have too many books :-D
Not to mention all that time to myself with the Green Dragon Lady Lincoln and her radio.

Mommy, I'm so sorry you're sick. But when you're sick and your writing turns smart-alecky, it's really funny! :)
I hope you get better soon so the birthday celebration can go *on* and life can get a little brighter...
Oh, and for the record, my mother made us do our laundry when we were 7 and 8ish... I'm not sayin' anything except she cured that problem of her being responsible for no underwear and socks - and it worked! ;)
...and if you ever want to get away for awhile you can always come visit me! It would be a whole 18 hours in Green Dragon Lady Lincoln each way.
Ha, ha, Rebekah...you'd soon be sorry if I came down for a visit!
As for the laundry, Ethan on up do their own. But somebody has to do the towels and Loren's and mine. And somehow, I just can't picture "you-know-who" doing it.
Ha,ha (about the laundry) I definitely understand! ;-)
I am more than willing to do our share of the laundry if "Other You Know Who" will take on the car maintenance, with equal competence.
