Life in the Yard
Lots going on, in the Hoytdom. I still have to report on the cardio appointments of yesterday. Suffice it to say that no one is dying of heart problems, at this moment.
For now, however, Ma has a hankerin' to look at somethin' purdy :-)
The daffodils be abloomin'
Even the buds are beauteous
Violet, peeking out amidst last fall's weed debris
Small purple trees are popping up...grape hyacinths are weird, but pretty.

Oh! All those wonderful purple flowers growing in the yard are little violets!
(I want to avoid mowing them away as much as possible!--I even enjoy all the dandelions in the yard :)
Anna, Anna, Anna...
The violets, while pretty in isolated places, are basically seen as a weed, by many. They can spread like crazy.
If you like the violets, you're gonna love the white clover when it comes out :-D
However, some of those "weeds," like clover, add nitrogen to the soil. So when people kill off everything but the grass, then they have to add nitrogen to make their pretty grass stay green looking. It becomes a vicious cycle.
I can live with the violets, but I'd have to think about the dandelions. For one thing, the fluff tends to muck up the air filter on some mowers.
It's all moot, right now. We are too poor to put a bunch of weedkiller on the lawn.
