Cool Customers
I was sitting at my computer this morning, minding the world's business, when I suddenly heard,
"Mommy! Two bucks! You gotta get your camera!"
Sorry for not being able to move that guy wire.
They came from the road and proceeded into Mr. Frey's soybeans, munching as they went.

Then along came an adolescent.
He was followed by another young buckeroo...
And off they go, into the sunrise.

A doe came following soon after, showing proper submission by bringing up the rear.
These are probably the same characters that leave hoof prints in our garden and have been gnawing on my green beans, not to mention half a head of Trevor's cabbage.

Mmm. Venison.
(Soy-fed, too, for us vegetarians.)
Josh and I just returned from a trip to NH to visit my grandparents. My grammie hangs soap on stakes all around her garden and the deer don't touch it. They eat the neighbor's, but not hers. It's a certain kind of soap, and I don't quite remember what brand it was... lot of help I am!
Vegetarian venison, there's a breakthrough.
Rebekah, was it Irish Spring soap? I think Mommy used to do that...
Yes, it is Irish Spring soap! Can you tell I haven't used it much, this year?
It's supposed to work very well. I guess I'll just have to swallow my pride and ignore the bad aesthetics and put the soap out. No matter how weird it looks.
Wilson, I don't much care for the taste of venison, which might mean it isn't really meat...
