Things That Make Me Nervous....
-one of the younger kids coming up to me, saying, "I don't have to go to the bathroom. Really, I don't." *blinks*
-my husband and son changing my hardrive and casually mentioning, "Don't worry, we can always get your email addresses and files off, later."
-realizing that, not only have I lost most of my addresses, but, what is far worse, I no longer have the cheesecake recipes solicited from unmet Southerners, whom I hesitate to bother. Again.
-after negatively commenting on a link in a daughter's blog, the author of said link comments on the daughter's blog. And, what is worse, I STILL do not understand what they are trying to say.
*Resigns self to being stupid*
-through some inexplicable mouse click, the beginning of post was sent to oblivion. Not even a syllable went to "draft." *wonders if I can blame this on husband or son......*

At least you knew what I was trying to say in said daughter's blog. That should bring some peace to your jittery heart. :-) Of course, in my circles, linguistics is very highly thought of--at least descriptive linguistics is, which might be different from what the author of the article was talking about.
Mommy, you're just not stupid. You're not even close.
I apologize. My comment didn't come out right. What I meant was, my comment in her blog was about a topic much more lofty than what the author was talking about, and that you *do* understand. I didn't understand much of what the author said either, and I'm trained in linguistics. I did understand the part about linguistics being thought of as a second-rate science, but not the rest.
It's Ok. I feel better, now.
