Bits and Pieces

Supper is over, the kids are sorting and folding clothes, and I am back on Loren's computer. I guess that will tell you something....

Since "Jim and Bob" have the night off I will give you a short report of life in the household:

- Loren is over his head cold. It was very nasty and he did get a fever at one point, but it subsided quickly so we did not report it to the medical people who now rule our lives.

- My computer is progressing to the point that it no longer freezes, it just reboots periodically. Usually when I am trying to play a CD. (I can't help but notice there is some lovely classical music playing on Loren's computer.....)

-Have done some cleaning today, in preparation for a visit at the end of the week from Ardith, Heather, and another young lady who is still unsure of whether she would survive if she came :-)

Two interesting verbal exchanges stand out in my mind. I was cutting freshly made brownies for snack as Nolan (5) looked on. He asked, "Did you put anything in them, Mommy?" "Yes, I put a few chocolate chips in the batter." "But, you didn't put in macaroni?" *????* "Uh, no. I didn't even think of it, actually....."

Tonight at supper there was a rather heated exchange as to the best type of watch/clock: Digital, or Analog. For some reason, the division runs precisely down gender lines, the girls being pro-analog, the boys favoring digital. Is this typical of the world at large? Or just another peculiarity to our family?

In my mind, analog has the other beat because of the great pictograph effect one gets at the same moment of time identification. Maybe it's because I am right brained. I do know this, you can't beat the analog system for timing labor contractions.

When Loren was asked which he preferred, he answered, "I have a digital watch, but I want an analog." I'm tellin' ya, the man has great political instincts.

Or, maybe his brain cells are in the process of migration.
