Used to be little.....

This is the last picture for today. I promise.

The ultimate purpose of planting this rose bush, was to hide the heat pump. Can you SEE the heat pump? Of course not. Just another one of "Ma's" horticultural cloaking devices, come to fruition. *modestly pats hair*

This Rugosa Rose actually came from a sucker shoot off another bush, which is even larger. I guess you could call it, "Second Hand Rose."

These plants are so prolific, that runners have snuck underneath the heat pump, with bold plans to launch an attack on the house. Periodically, I dig up the extras, throw them away, or give them as graduation and wedding presents, where the primary obstacle to survival is the dreaded "canis herbivoris," or, plant-eating dog. (yes, Liz blabbed :-D)

You may notice two disparate parts of the house. On the left, the original structure, on the right, the new addition. In Iowa, we refer to this as "distressed," and "nouveau riche." Yet to be determined: whether we will spruce up the old, or stress out the new.

In the meantime, the bush waits.....and bides its time.....
