El Mayo Reporto, Part Intro

In the ever-present quest to make up for lost blogging time, we bring you the third post of the day :-)

Loren has been up to Rochester since Sunday night for his first yearly check post-transplant. They are running him through a full battery of tests, requiring him to stay up in Minnesota until sometime on Thursday.

Originally, I had planned to go along, but after weighing the advantages and disadvantages decided to stay at home with the children.
Reasons to go:

• be alone with the hubby, naturally
  
• firsthand report of the doctors' assessment
  
• read a lot
  
• get an excellent start on a DVT from sitting so much
  
• barter with my favorite (but slightly eccentric) sellers of used books
  
• visit quite possibly the shoddiest Goodwill store in a five state area
  
• not having to cook (unless you count warming up a frozen meal in the motel microwave)
  
• cable news and TV :-)

Reasons to stay:

• Nolan
  
• reduce stress on older kids
  
• keep in close proximity to hugs and cuddles from little snuggly bunnies
  
• keep away from the depressing atmosphere of being around so MANY sick people
  
• keep from going crazy sitting and waiting so very much
  
• sleep in a non-motel bed
  
• take kids (and me) in for flu shots
  
• watch M*A*S*H reruns late at night :-)

In the end, some of the older ones became sick Sat. and Sun. so I really couldn't have left them in charge while they felt so miserable. Plus, I just found out I have to report for jury duty again this Thursday. So, it all worked out. I have humbly accepted my duty to hang out with the kids, watch baseball, and fatten up for the winter.

I'll try to get around to posting about Loren's checkup, sometime.....or, he could do it HIMSELF.
