Sunrise over the Iowa permafrost

(apologies to Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young)
Our House
Our house
is a very, very very cold house.
With ice upon the panes,
as sunlight ever wanes,
Now everything is freezy 'cause it's cold.
I noticed Des Moines got a mention on the national weather news this morning. But since they had a balmy -3, and Waterloo had a record -18, (our local town registering -12) if ANYONE should get recognition (and a chance to whine) it shouldn't be Des Moines. The real life-blood of this state is not the capital, or even the big cities, but all us little folk huddling in small familial clumps in our widely dispersed towns and old farm houses.
*sniff*
(for relatives "down under" the above temps are -19.4444444, -27.7777778, and -24.444444 Celsius, respectively......"G'day, Mate" :-) Tweet
