Out Ioway

My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of Heaven and earth,
He will not let your foot slip-
He who watches over you will not slumber.

I am requesting prayer....

....for my father. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance late this afternoon with a suspected stroke. I just talked with him by phone a day or two ago...

His name is Robert J. Baker and he is 85 years old, a super guy and I love him VERY MUCH.

The second call I received minutes ago was after a Cat scan had been performed, confirming a massive stroke. Dad was described as being miserable, though I'm not sure how aware he is or for how long.

It appears there is nothing to be done, but he will probably be transferred from Elkhart to a South Bend (IN) hospital where there is a neurosurgeon.

My oldest brother is with him and my mother who is 87. Please pray for her as well. It is hard to be the spouse....("I love you, Mom.")

My dad has always been full of zest and life and while he was slowing down some in the past few years, this comes as something of a shock.

Thank you very much for your prayers....and now, I need to go have a good cry

I just got an update from my sister-in-law...

My dad has been transferred to the South Bend Hospital and admitted to ICU. He was still able to communicate to some extent, which is a little remarkable considering the amount of bleeding he suffered.

The neurosurgeon was slightly less bleak than the original doctor but the bleeding could start up again. More will be known by tomorrow afternoon, I think.

They were finally able to get some pain medication ordered which Dad had been requesting over and over....

My brother in Virginia was leaving tonight and thought he could get north of the storm hitting the east coast....you might pray for him and his travel.

*sigh*

I wish I could just pick up and go...

Thank you very very much for all your prayers.

I will keep praying for you. It is rough getting use to our parents as old...and in ill health. It is great to know God is both with us and with them at the same time to provide comfort.
