Down Eldora-way

Thought we'd kill two birds with one stone and renew Kendra's permit while doing the weekly shopping.....except, you can't DO that in Iowa Falls, you have to go to the county seat, which is 15 miles away.

But, Kendra and I both agreed that it is a lovely old courthouse--the kind of courthouse every town should have. (it's too late for Butler County...)

*kicks self for not taking picture of courthouse*

ANYWAY, as we waited in line, the eye glances down the hallway....
 ...taking note of all the important offices and such.

Kendra was a good sport to pose in front of this anti-aircraft gun. (let me know if that's not what it is)
 Personally, I think she looks way too nice....

There was also a Civil War cannon on the premises.
 Believe it or not, I've had young kids ask me, "Mommy? Were you alive during the Civil War?"

These kinds of questions are usually followed by strange choking noises interspersed with stifled screams.

And as I was relating that at the supper table this evening, I said, "Or maybe they asked if I was alive during World War II...."

"Well Mommy? Were you?? "

*sigh*

There is obviously more work to be done.

  The roadsides along highway 20 were covered with these beauties.
